The government of Alberta is reforming the auto insurance system with a view to lowering premiums and delivering better, faster care to people injured in collisions. Core to this is minimizing the involvement of courts and lawyers. Under the new system, coming January 2027, accident victims will submit their claim and focus on what matters – healing, recovering costs, and moving on with their lives. Albertans currently pay the second highest premiums in Canada and, right now, the only winners are lawyers who are profiting from a litigious system.
